How Can severe Thalassemia Be Treated?

I am a medical Herbalist and have a client who has thalassemia. I m not too familiar with this and how to get her iron levels normal. She states that supplementing with iron is ineffective and her body cannot absorb it but she can add more iron-rich foods. Why is this?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to HealthCareMagic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

Its because iron is not the problem in here, her genetics is the issue her body can no utilize iron to make hemoglobin even if she has a KG of iron running in her blood. Infact if she is getting transfusions on regular basis she might be having problems with iron overload and in this case iron rich foods can me a poison.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.

Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
